Galtha is a place of negotiating knowledge; a site for learning, ceremony, negotiation and decision-making. Galtha is also the spear used to symbolise that a decision has been made by everyone and for everyone.
"Galtha is everywhere; wherever Yolngu and Balanda people are acting properly there is the possiblity of galtha" (Marika-Mununggiritj & Christie 1995).

On the issue of economic orthodoxy, the New York Times has published an interesting article by Patricia Cohen on the lag in University Departments accepting other economic theories as valid.
